LAST ASSIGNMENT OF THE YEAR!
It is a school year you will never forget! You have worked hard over the past 10 months at school and at home. You have 1 assignment left! After this you are free for the summer (disclaimer: you still need to listen to exactly what your parents say). Take a look the chart below. You need to create the ABC's of Grade 4/5. You need to come up with a saying or a word that starts with each letter of the alphabet. You can present this in the chart below or your own creative way. I have given you a few examples. I will email a blank chart if you would like to use this one. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
If you are looking for something else to do, I want you to continue to work on the multiplication chart form last week. See if you can complete the multiplication chart below in under 5 minutes with no calculator. Do it as many times as you can to see how fast you can complete it. Send me your lowest score.

Weekly Lessons: June June 15 - 19
This week we are going to try and do something a little different. Instead of assignments in a number of different subjects, I am going to assign a culminating project. You are going to create a brochure to advertise Grade 4/5 at Banbury Heights School.
With these brochures you are going to need a blank piece of white paper. Then fold your paper like a hotdog and fold it into three different quadrants. Like the above example. For each quadrant number them one-six. Make sure that one is your title page. Your whole brochure should be creative, neat and coloured. Have some fun with these!
1. Welcome to Mrs. Corpse’s Class – Use interesting fonts and colours to gab the attention of your reader and make them want to look at the brochure.
2. Math – Come up with a word problem from any strand of math we have worked on this year. Make it a question that someone coming into Grade 4 or 5 would need to know.
3. Science / Social Studies – This panel should be about the activities we did in Science or Social Studies (add pictures or diagrams)
4. About Mrs. Corpse: Tell the students coming into the class that don’t know me what to expect!
5. Top Five Things About Grade 4/5: Explain the 5 things you liked most about this year
6. Tips: Give 3 or more tips you would give to someone coming into grade 4/5 so they will be as successful as they can.
You can create this on the computer, or you can draw it out. If you have a different way you want to display the information that is OK too. I want you to take your time and have fun with it. I am very excited to see what you come up with.
Additional Math Challenge:
If you are looking for something else to do, I want you to try and complete this challenge. See if you can complete the multiplication chart below in under 5 minutes with no calculator. Do it as many times as you can to see how fast you can complete it. Send me your lowest score.

Reading and Writing Assignment #10: Social Isolation Rap
Objective:
- Analyze the lyrics from the Fresh Prince theme song
- Identify and understand syllables and rhyming words
- Re-write the song so that it is about YOU!
This week you are going to take one of my favorite songs and rewrite the lyrics and rap about your experience during social isolation. You are welcome to do one verse or the entire song. Here is an example of the original.
It is important when you complete an activity like this (similar to when we did the Toys R Us jingle) that you have the same number of syllables in each line as the original. To make it sound even better you should try and rhyme the same lines that Will Smith does.
Here is an example
Original
Original
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought 'Nah, forget it' - 'Yo, home to Bel-Air'

Grade 5 was a trip and I’ll never forget
Isaac riding his bike without breaking a sweat
Hoping Grade 6 and 7 fly by in a hurry
Can’t wait to be in the class with the great Mr. Murray
Here is a copy of the entire song for you to refer to while you rewrite. When you are done send me a copy OR even better, record a video of you rapping it!
