Reading and Writing Assignment #7: Infographics

This week we are combining Reading and Writing into one assignment you can work on.  In addition if you would like, you can continue to work on Lexia of find some stories on Get Epic to read!
Take a look at the infographic below. Answer the questions in full sentences.

1. What information conveyed in the infographic is new to you?
2. What is interesting to you?
3. What seems to be especially significant? Why?
4. Overall, how does the information in this infographic enhance your understanding of the coronavirus outbreak? Explain.




Next I would like you to create you own Infographic on the topic of your choice.  Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data, or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. 
It can be on something that is relevant in the news or on something you are an expert on.  You can create your info graphic on the computer, draw/write it out, or come up with you own idea. 

Here are the criteria for your infographic;
- It must focus on one topic (social distancing, the history of the DH in baseball, ET the movie)
- It must have 4-6 headings
- It must contain some facts you have researched or know about your topic
- It must contain pictures and or graphics
- It must fit on 1-2 pages and be easy for your reader to follow


Please send me your info graphic and I will post them on the website for everyone to read!


MATH

This week both the Grade 4 and 5’s are going to do some data management review.  Here is a video Larry made in the past that does a really good job explaining mean, mode and range.

Art Assignment #7: Graffiti Art



 I have always enjoyed graffiti and doodling words and then making them look cool.  This week I would like you to follow the video and create your own word design.



1.  The word you pick cannot be your name
2.  It must represent you in some way
3.  Like the artist says in the challenge, if you use warm colours inside you have to use cool colours on the outside and vice versa

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

FOSSILS


 Fossils are traces of things that lived in prehistoric times.  Fossils can be a preserved body of a plant or an animal or an imprint of it.  Here is a video to quickly review what a fossil is:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgPnnzou0og

More about Fossils
Fossils are only found in places where the conditions were right for making fossils.  Most fossils are never discovered.  The ones we find are exposed through erosion and quarrying.
