You will have mare fraction assignments under your I Know
It! profile. This week, grade 4s are
focusing on simplifying fractions, ordering and comparing fractions, and identifying
fractions on a number line. Grade 5s will be changing
fractions to decimals, working with percentages as fractions, and percent,
decimal and fraction comparisons. You
are more than welcome to explore other concepts once you are done your
assignments.

Assignment #4: Super Hero Newspaper Article
You have all been
super heroes in your online learning! This
week, you going to create your very own Super Hero! It can be you if you would like. Remember, Super Heroes usually have a real
name and a super name. Also, they have
super powers! I have included a template
below that lists some super powers you might potentially have. You do not have to use these. You can create your own super powers. You will also have to include a portrait of
yourself as a super hero!
You are going to
combine this information and create a newspaper article about your Super Hero! Remember to edit the article (add more
detail, check for spelling, etc.) and then publish it to add all of the
criteria of a real newspaper article we have been learning about for the past
two weeks. You can try to create it on
your computer. If not, you can also use paper and a pencil to create
your good copy.

ART ASSIGNMENT #4:
TOILET PAPER CARDBOARD ROLL HERO
Who knew two
months ago that toilet paper would be so important! This week, you are going to recycle a cardboard
toilet paper roll and turn it into a super hero with your new super hero powers. You an create an example OF the super hero
you created or create your own super hero cuffs! The choice is yours. Here are some examples of what you can
create.

SCIENCE
This week we
will learn about another type of rock called metamorphic rock. Heat and pressure deep inside the earth can
cause igneous and sedimentary rocks to change.
This is not a fast process. This
change can take a few million years! Rocks
that are formed are called Metamorphic rocks.
See below to see how metamorphic rock is formed. You will then see some of the different types
of metamorphic rock and how they are each made.

Grade 4 Science Assignment:
Try to find
at least 5 rocks in your yard. How would
you classify them (colour, size, shape, type, etc.)? What kind of rocks do you think they
are? How do you think they were
formed? Has your opinion changed after
reading all about the three different kinds of rocks?

Assignment #4: Building a Skyscraper
This week the lesson focuses on the growth of tall
buildings and their structures. You need to develop the tallest tower you can
build with any materials you can find in your home! - Your tower must support 1
golf ball for two minutes. (or something similar in size and weight) - The golf
ball must be supported near the top of the tower, with the bottom of the ball
no more than 10% below the upper height of the tower. - Develop a design on
paper, build your tower, present test your tower and send me a picture!
When you are done, answer the questions below.

3. If you had a chance to do this project again,
what would you have done differently?
4. Do you think this activity would have been
easier if you worked with other students in the class? (explain)
